Successful Touch 'n Tulips 2023 ends in French hands

⏱ 27 Aug. 2023 - 11:18

On August 26, 2023, the coveted Touch tournament, Touch 'n Tulips, took place again in Amsterdam.

Two weeks after returning from the European Championship in Vichy, the Amsterdam tournament was strongly represented with teams from France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Early in the morning, most teams had started their warm-up to get a good start on what was a changeable day in terms of weather. But that didn't stop the best teams from competing against each other!

The Netherlands, which were represented this year with no fewer than 6 teams (!) (2x Amsterdam Touch, 2x The Hague Touch, 1x Utrecht Touch, 1x Amsterdam Westerpark and 1x Enschede Touch clustered with Rotterdam Touch and Delft Touch) showed that Touch Rugby in the Netherlands is growing and is therefore taking good steps forward in its developments.

This year the set up of the tournament was divided into 2 groups of 7 teams. The numbers 2 of both groups played for 3/4 place to take home bronze. In this case, the match was against the two major clubs from the Netherlands, Amsterdam vs The Hague, with Amsterdam winning by convincingly finishing 9-2 as number 3 at its own tournament. The final was between the French Flightless and Belgian Kituro, where many Internationals were present on both teams who participated in the last European Championship for the national French and Belgian team. During the final it flowed nicely up and down with a lot of beautiful dynamic play and interceptions resulting in impressive chases. The audience did joined in and whipped up both teams to give the maximum, where it was already clear that the Flightless would be a size too big for Kituro. But the devil was in the tail for Kituro, who treated the audience with clever plays and left them in the final phase show that they have enough talent. Nevertheless, Flightless continued to maintain a large lead and therefore came out on top by taking the first prize home to France undefeated.

In addition, we would also like to highlight our newcomers Touch Enschede, Rotterdam and Delft for having good Touch in this composition.

show against the bigger clubs in their beautiful uniform. Here too, (former) Rugby players participated and clearly enjoyed this beautiful day. May there be more tournaments for our newcomers! All in all, it was another successful day for Touch Nederland in general to make a strong impression. to come and our guests have given another tournament, which can be booked as a beautiful and successful day!
